The Beautiful Mess behind building Palette8 Productions

There’s a saying that goes, “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” I didn’t really feel that until the moment Palette8 Productions became more than a conversation.
It started with three women, myself, Jenny Heins, and Michaela Lane, sitting in a room filled with ideas and ambition. No rulebook. No blueprint. Just a shared dream and the audacity to believe we could bring it to life.
And it’s been a ride, beautiful, bold, and messy in the best way.
“Started from the bottom now we here…”
-Drake
When you’re building something from scratch, it’s not glamorous. There are no filters for the uncertainty, no edits for the stress, no auto-tune for the chaos.
But when you have people like Jenny and Michaela, people who will hold you down but also hold you accountable, you realize how lucky you are.
Because trust me, not every idea I’ve had was gold. Some were more like glitter… pretty, but just messy and unnecessary.
And I’m grateful every day for the “Girl, no” texts. For the honest conversations. For the moments they reminded me that leadership isn’t about being right….it’s about being real.
“I get by with a little help from my friends…”-The Beatles
Building a business sounds powerful, right? And it is, but it’s also terrifying.
There were days I was all-in, ready to take over the world. And other days I stared at a blank screen, completely paralyzed by doubt.
But Jenny reminded me of our why. Michaela showed me a how. And in the middle of my spirals, they just showed up, consistently, unapologetically, and fully themselves.
Because the truth is, being in business with people who aren’t afraid to disagree with you is the biggest blessing. They’re not here for the ego, they’re here for the vision.
“Every little step I take, you will be there…”
-Bobby Brown
You don’t always see the nights we cry after the production wraps, the times the funding falls through, or the moments when nothing makes sense but we still have to press go.
And yet….we have kept going.
Not because it’s easy. Not because we always know the next step. But because this matters. To me. To us. To all the people we have helped and will help in the future.
Palette8 is more than shows. It’s more than lights and cameras.
It’s legacy.
It’s representation.
It’s passion stitched into every detail.
And when I look around and see these two women next to me, I know we’re exactly where we’re supposed to be.
“I’m every woman, it’s all in me…”
-Chaka Khan (or Whitney, because let’s be real, both hit.)
We’re all different. Jenny’s the creative compass. Michaela’s the grounded strategist. I’m the soul on fire. And somehow, together, we’ve become this powerhouse that just works.
Even in the disagreements, even when it gets wild (and believe me WILD is an understatement) we move with love, intention, and respect. And I think that’s the secret sauce.
Because building something with women who honor you, check you, and love you? That’s where the real power is.
“This girl is on fire…”
-Alicia Keys
If you’re out there thinking about starting something, I won’t lie, it’s going to stretch you. It’s going to demand everything you’ve got and then some. But when it’s yours? When it’s real? When the vision in your mind comes to life, it’s worth it.
So surround yourself with people who won’t just clap when you win, but who will build with you when you don’t even know what tools you need yet.
Because that’s what Palette8 has been, a messy, magical masterpiece built on truth, trust, and a whole lot of late-night caffeine.
And honestly?
We’re just getting started.
